Jane E. Dale has Joined the Causey Law Firm Team

Jane E. Dale has joined the Causey Law Firm litigation team and, along with attorney Brian Wright, will represent our clients in the full range of workers’ compensation system cases we handle. Jane has had extensive trial experience in civil and criminal cases with a private practitioner on the Olympic Peninsula and subsequently as a public defender. She then began practicing in workers’ compensation, where she found her true calling, representing injured and disabled claimants against the Department of Labor & Industries and self- insured employers. She has gained substantial experience litigating cases at the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals and trying those cases at the superior court level.

Jane earned a business degree from the University of Washington, and then a JD from Seattle University School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. She was labeled a “Rising Star” attorney by Super Lawyers magazine in 2010.

Welcome Aboard, Jane Dale!

Ahoy there!!  The Causey Law Firm team has just added attorney Jane E. Dale to our lineup. After graduating from Seattle University School of Law in 2007, Jane was an associate with a prominent general practice firm on the Olympic Peninsula, covering a wide range of civil and criminal matters.  She then practiced with a public defender firm in the Shoreline area, handling a high-volume criminal caseload with extensive jury trial experience.  For the past two years she has practiced with another workers’ compensation firm in the Seattle area, gaining substantial experience litigating cases before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals and with jury trials of those cases in Superior Court.

Jane joins Brian Wright on our litigation team, and will cover the full range of workers’ compensation systems cases handled by Causey Law Firm, with potentially some additional work in the employment law field.

Jane’s background is very similar to Brian’s: grew up in the Kent area, went to the University of Washington, gaining a BA in Business Administration and Finance, received a law degree from Seattle U. with honors, where she was also an editor of a law periodical, represented the law school in Moot Court competition, and was a Mock Trial competitor.  In 2010, she was denominated a Washington State “Rising Star” attorney.  She enjoys litigating on behalf of injured workers and fighting “the man,” and brings additional depth and power to our team.

Jane enjoys a variety of athletics, and is a frequent and enthusiastic traveler.  Expect to see more pictures from her adventures on our website in the future.

A milestone celebration!

25 years, and still smiling!

This week marks the 25th anniversary of our firm’s longest tenured employee, Kit Case.  As a workers’ compensation and Longshore paralegal, Kit has helped literally thousands of injured workers over the past quarter century.  She is a knowledgeable guide and compassionate listener to those lost and overwhelmed by the system, but also a fierce advocate for workers’ rights.

Kit became the firm’s administrator ten years ago, expanding her job to include human resources, benefits, and marketing in addition to her case work.  Kit has been our guiding force in initiating and maintaining our blog and web presence.   She also encouraged four of our former Causey law firm legal assistants (including our attorney Brian Wright) to pursue law school.

Given her experience here, she is called upon often to teach our employees how to navigate the often murky and turbulent waters of workers’ compensation. She has accomplished all of this while still enjoying a rich life which includes sailing, scuba diving, art and cycling, frequently commuting to work on her bike.

We applauded and toasted Kit’s immeasurable contributions to the firm on Friday– appropriately, near the water.  Thank you for everything, Kit!

Ten Years with Causey Law Firm – Anniversary Celebrations

Causey Law Firm proudly celebrated two 10-year anniversaries recently.  Lauri Watkins joined the firm in November 2003.  Francesca Severini joined the firm on April 1, 2004 – we were no fools.  Both form the strong center of our team.  Lauri is our Litigation Coordinator and is the paralegal assigned to our Social Security cases. Fran handles workers’ compensation cases, and both Lauri and Fran work with our Longshore clients.

Congratulations, Ladies!!
